Advice for authors
This is a small site designed to provide assistance to authors of technical books. It’s primarily intended to be used by the authors of books that I am working on (to save me having to print out fresh copies of everything for every book), but it should also be of more general use.
The chances are that you’re not a full-time writer, but an academic or a professional who’s been commissioned to write a book on your area of expertise. You’re probably quite used to writing papers and reports, but the process of preparing a book for publication is a more complex task, requiring a different approach. These pages describe, in general terms, the things that you can do to make the process easier for yourself and for others involved in the publishing process. The site is split into sections covering the major activities: writing, preparation of figures, proofreading and indexing.
